The Garden City Community College softball team's first home games of the season produced mixed results.
The Lady Broncbusters went 1-3 for the weekend, splitting a pair of games with Pratt, and dropping two to Lamar (Colo.) at the Tangeman Sports Complex.
Garden City (4-9) beat Pratt 4-1 on Saturday, before dropping an 8-0 game to Lamar. The Busters fell 8-3 to the Lopes on Sunday, then lost a 9-7 heartbreaker to the Beavers to finish the four-game set.
That 9-7 loss to Pratt saw Garden City fall behind 5-0 after three and a half innings, before erupting for a six-run fourth to take the lead.
GCCC was up 7-5 in the seventh, but a pair of one-out hits got PCCC within one. The Busters looked to have a second out when Stephanie Seewer's bunt went straight to first baseman Chelsea Justice, but Justice tagged Seewer with her glove when the ball was in her other hand, resulting in a safe call. Rachael Schoonmaker's single tied it at seven, and a two-run double by Fernanda Garcia put Pratt up 9-7.
Garden City loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the frame, but Alexandria Barleen lined out to left and Danielle Aronoff popped out to short to end the game.
Garden City had the bases loaded with no outs in the fifth, but only got one run out of it to go up 7-5.
Garden City opens conference play by hosting Colby at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tangeman Sports Complex.
