Garden City Community College baseball player Tyler Alitz was killed Tuesday afternoon in a collision with another vehicle in Concordia.

Alitz, 20, an Omaha, Neb., native, was traveling northbound on Lincoln St. when his vehicle, a 2000 Toyota Avalon, collided with a southbound 2014 Dodge Ram, which was pulling a 2008 TAKE trailer in the southbound left-hand lane, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

The driver of the Ram, 27-year-old Kyle A. Glassman of Duncan, Okla., was injured and taken to Cloud County Health Center.

Neither of the two drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the KHP report. The accident occurred at 4:12 p.m.

Alitz played two seasons at GCCC, was the starting shortstop in 2013-14, and had signed a letter of intent to play at Morehead State (Ky.) University in 2014-15.
