Three Garden City men were arrested Wednesday on drug-related allegations, with one also facing a count of criminal possession of a firearm.

Lewis Padilla, 20, 340 S. Farmland Road, No. 51, was arrested at 11:22 a.m. Wednesday on allegations of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, distribution of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a firearm, and no Kansas drug-tax stamp.

Jaime Quintana, 29, 4101 E. U.S. Highway 50, No. 175, and Froilan Hernandez, 203 S. Sixth St., each was arrested on allegations of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In a press release issued Thursday, Finney County Sheriff Kevin Bascue said at about 11:22 a.m. Wednesday, members of the Garden City/Finney County Drug Task Force searched Padilla's residence and seized about 5.1 pounds of marijuana, 42 grams of cocaine, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, two handguns¬ and $712 in cash.

"Whenever we have a drug case like that, we do the search warrant for drugs and paraphernalia, and if they have cash, we seize that to see if it's associated with the proceeds from selling drugs," Bascue said.

The three men were arrested on scene.

Bascue said the search followed an investigation that had been underway for several months. He said that some of the drug paraphernalia led law enforcement to the conclusion that the intent to distribute was present.

"It was like packaging materials, scales, pipes and bongs and things like that," Bascue said.

Bascue said the two guns confiscated by law enforcement were small caliber hand guns and that Padilla was arrested on an allegation of criminal possession of a firearm because he is a convicted felon.

As of press time, all three men were in custody at the Finney County Jail.
