G.C. woman killed in accident on K-156

A Garden City woman died Tuesday morning at the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Pawnee County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Donna K. Strickert, 50, died from injuries sustained in an accident that occurred at about 8:30 a.m., about 11 miles west of Larned.

Strickert was driving a Dodge van eastbound on Kansas Highway 156 when she pulled to the right turn lane, then made a left turn onto U.S. Highway 183. A second vehicle eastbound on the same road, a semitrailer driven by Peter J. Cedra, 54, also of Garden City, struck Strickert's vehicle as it was turning, according to the KHP.

Cedra was injured and taken to a Larned hospital. The extent of his injuries or his condition are unknown at this time.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
