Earl Stanley Tackett
DEERFIELD — Earl Stanley "Hop" Tackett, 80, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at his home in Kearny County.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1933, in Lakin, to Earl and Bessie Ellen Tackett.
On Oct. 22, 1950, he married Lora Bell in Deerfield.
Mr. Tackett was a lifetime resident of Kearny County and graduated from Deerfield High School.
He worked at Archer Daniels Hay Mill and KN Energy for 17 years before becoming a farmer.
Mr. Tackett enjoyed riding his motorcycles, restoring old cars, playing cards, bowling and his annual February trout fishing to Branson, Mo.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Deerfield, a charter member of the Deerfield Lions Club, a Boy Scout leader, and a member of the Lakin Gun Club, Deerfield Brotherhood, Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and Roadrunners Motorcycle Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stanley Tackett; a brother, Robert Tackett; and one grandson, Josh Tackett.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Tackett of Buda, Texas, and Kerry Tackett of Deerfield; a brother, Doug Tackett of Deerfield; a sister, Myrtle Goetz of Kingman; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Deerfield.
Burial will take place at Deerfield Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.
