Pat and Jeanette Rooney of Satanta announce the engagement of their daughter, Tera, to Sheldon Barnhardt. He is the son of Roger and Stacey Barnhardt of Lakin.

Pat and Jeanette Rooney of Satanta announce the engagement of their daughter, Tera, to Sheldon Barnhardt. He is the son of Roger and Stacey Barnhardt of Lakin.

Grandparents of the bride-to-be are Judith Rooney and the late Archie Rooney of Satanta; and the late Jake and Mary Dechant of Garden City. Her fiancee is the grandson of Gordon and Martha Barnhardt of Bucklin; and Gerald and Patsy Lightcap of Garden City, formerly of Satanta.

The bride-to-be graduated from Satanta High School and Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in animal science. She attends the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University, planning to graduate in May 2014 with a doctorate of veterinary medicine and a concurrent master's degree in clinical sciences.

Her fiancee graduated from Lakin High School and attended Butler Community College on a football scholarship. He plans to graduate from Kansas State University in December 2012 with a bachelor's degree in construction science and management.

The couple plans to marry in December on the beach in Cancun, Mexico. A reception will be held upon their return in Deerfield on Jan. 5, 2013.
