Garden City's Mackenzie Thayer shot a second round 9-over-par 81 on Wednesday for a two-day total of 165 at the Trusted Choice Big I Insurance Championship played at the Old York Country Club in Chesterfield, N.J.

Thayer, 16, had opened with an 84 on Tuesday and her nine-hole rounds of 39-42 left her six shots behind the cut of 159.

In her Wednesday round, played during the morning, Thayer recorded two double bogeys along with nine pars, six bogeys and one birdie, that coming on the 315-yard, par-4 ninth hole.

Thayer will be a junior this fall at Garden City High School.

In the boys division, Wichitan David Auer made the cut at 154 on rounds of 77-77 while Sam Stevens, also of Wichita, missed the cut with rounds of 82-77--159. The cut was at 155.
