* Children's Story Hour and Performance by "Ooh, Aah! Mad Science"

What: The program will allow children to enjoy the "fizz" with various amazing and fun chemical reactions. Children will see clear water turning to colored liquid, and they touch colorful oozing soap suds even as exothermic heat is released.

When: 10:30 a.m.

Where: Finney County Public Library, Nature Explore Garden

* Hairball musical performance

What: 99.9 FM The Rock Cow and 94.5 FM The Mix team up to bring back for the second year, Hairball, a rock 'n' roll experience you won't soon forget.

When: 9 p.m.

Saturday, May 31

* Saint Francis Community Services Children's Parade

What: Children 12 and younger are invited to decorate their tricycles, wagons, scooters, strollers, bicycles, etc. and head to Stevens Park for the Children's Parade. Costumes celebrating Beef Empire Days are encouraged. There is no entry fee. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m.

When: 10 a.m

* Hill Side Session

What: Come listen to live local music featuring 20-plus area acts. Wristbands are available at Legends Salon, Garden City Arts and Vapor Wave for $10 in advance or $15 at the gate.

When: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: 3319 N. VFW Road

* "Praise in the Park" Christian Music Concert

What: Bands will play and sing worship songs and the HOPE puppets will perform, the Bible Christian train will run, and there will be more family fun. In case of inclement weather, the event will relocate to the First Christian Church, 306 N. Seventh St.

When: 7 p.m.

Sunday, June 1

* Hill Side Session

What: Come listen to live local music featuring 20-plus area acts. Wristbands are available at Legends Salon, Garden City Arts and Vapor Wave for $10 in advance or $15 at the gate.

When: Noon to 5 p.m.

Where: 3319 N. VFW Road

Thursday, June 5

* Queen Horsemanship

What: Horsemanship to include control of her mount and the way any situation, that may occur, is handled; and the understanding and the skill of the contestant will be judged and not the horse or the equipment.

When: 9 a.m.

Where: Finney County Fairgrounds

Friday, June 6

* Finney County Public Library Children's Story Hour

What: Children of all ages are invited to an outdoor event featuring rodeo cowboys, clowns, and maybe even a horse or two at the library.

When: 10:30 a.m.

Where: Finney County Public Library

* Miss Beef Empire Rodeo Queen Style Show and Brunch

What: Beef Empire Days Rodeo Queen will be a talented personable horsewoman with the vast knowledge of the sport of rodeo, the equine industry and the State of Kansas.

When: 10 a.m.

Where: 4-H Building

* Rodeo Queen Intros and coronation

When: 7:45 p.m.

Where: Finney County Fairgrounds

Saturday, June 7

* American State Bank Beef Empire Days Parade

What: The parade will begin at the National Guard Armory on South Main Street and will end at Walnut Street. The staging area at the Finney County Fairgrounds parking Lot will open at 8 a.m. Come see the different entries march down Main Street.
