Scott City, Meade boys remain unbeaten in league play; Elkhart, Cimarron win

Ulysses 47

At Ulysses, it wasn't a pleasant homecoming as visiting Scott City, the top team in Class 3A, took out the Tigers 72-47 in Great West Activities Conference action.

The Beavers jumped out to a 24-9 laed after one quarter and made it 51-25 by halftime.

Drew Kite led all scorers with 26 points, with 22 of those in the first half. Brett O'Neil added 18, with 14 of those in the first half, as well.

Kyler Barlow led the Tigers with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Tregg Rodriguez had 10 and Clarke Stringham added nine.

Ashland 39

At Meade, the Buffaloes jumped out to a 32-13 halftime lead before coasting to a 58-39 win over Ashland on Friday.

Jett Little led Meade, the state's No. 1-ranked Class 2A team, with 21 points followed by Morgan Davis with 13 points.

Grant Meininger led Ashland with 17 points.

Colby's Eagles captured a Great West Activities Conference contest with a road 59-49 decision over Hugoton.

Colby led 13-11 and 26-23 in the first half before an 18-11 third quarter put them into a 44-34 advantage going to the fourth period.

Todd Kane scored 21 points and Wiatt Binder scored 14 points for Colby.

Logan Frederick scored 10 points for Hugoton.

Elkhart beat Syracuse Friday night 63-55 in Elkhart in Hi-Plains League action.

The host Wildcats had a big first period, outscoring the Bulldogs 26-10 before Syracuse rallied with a 31-19 run over the second and third periods to close within 45-41 heading to the fourth quarter. Elkhart, though, stopped the rally

Kyle Dupree scored 16 points and Tierney Cashier scored 14 points for Syracuse.

Izzy Barco scored 11 points, Alex Gomez added 15, and Brandon Harbour chipped in with 13 for Elkhart.

The Deerfield Spartans got a combined 30 points from Mike and Alex Mata en route to a 52-45 victory over Satanta on Friday night.

Mike Mata scored 19 points for the Spartans while Alex added 11.

The Spartans led 20-13 after one quarter, 32-24 at halftime but then trailed 34-33 after three quarters when the Indians held a 10-1 scoring edge.

Alex Mata scored 11 points and Mike Mata scored 19 points for Deerfield.

Zach Freeman scored 19 points for Satanta.

Teddy Boersma scored a game-high 23 points on Friday night to pace the Cimarron Bluejays to a 55-41 Hi-Plains League triumph over the Lakin Broncs.

Boersman, who was a perfect 9-of-9 at the free throw line, helped his team overcome a sluggish first half when they led just 20-17 at the intermission.

In the final two periods, the 'Jays held a 35-24 scoring advantage.

Dalton Shalberg scored 14 points to pace Lakin.

Oberlin had three players in double figures and 12 players who scored en route to a convincing 68-32 victory over the Greeley County Jackrabbits on Friday night.

The Red Devils led 13-6 after one quarter but then extended the margin to 38-16 by halftime.

Tyler Bruggeman led the way with 18 points while Kyle Breth and Noah Nelson added 11 points each to the winning cause.

Martin Veleta was the lone player in double figures for the Jackrabbits with 11 points.
