Evelyn Joy Emmert
ELKHART — Evelyn Joy Emmert, 83, of Elkhart, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Morton County Assisted Living in Elkhart.
She was born March 26, 1930, in Wellington, Texas, to Doyle and Velma Cass Aaron.
On Nov. 22, 1945, she married Thurman Emmert in Wellington. They pastored churches for 34 years in Scott City; Wheeler, Texas; Manhattan; Sylvia; Elkhart; Derby; and Palco. They retired in Wellington. After her husband's death on April 8, 1999, she moved to Elkhart.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Grasz of Elkhart; three sons, Mike Emmert of Elkhart, Rick Emmert of Streetman, Texas, and Jeff Emmert of Sunray, Texas; a sister, Patsy Sue Meyer of Hugoton; a stepsister, Nancy Harris of Wellington; a brother, J.W. Emmert of Sacramento, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack; and six stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Nazarene in Elkhart. Graveside service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Wellington.
Visitation hours are 2 to 7 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or Morton County Assisted Living, both in care of the funeral home, Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
