LEOTI — Melvin Eugene "Mel" Giesick, 79, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital in Castle Rock, Colo.
He was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Leoti, to Samuel and Eva Bohl Giesick.
Mr. Giesick had recently moved to Castle Rock, but his primary residence was still in Leoti, where he had lived since 1984. He was the owner and operator of Mel's Foodliner in Leoti. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
On Aug. 16, 1959, he married Rilla Kay Miller in Tribune. She survives. Other survivors include three children, Darren Giesick of Parker, Colo., and Shannon Giesick and Tember Rector, both of Castle Rock; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; and three brothers, Robert, Karl and Earl Giesick.
Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Christ Covenant Church in Leoti. Burial will be at Leoti Cemetery.
