Charles D. Wessel
SCOTT CITY — Charles D. Wessel, 74, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born on June 20, 1939, to Joseph and Mary Mindrup Wessel, in Thomas County.
On January 5, 1963, he married Katherine L. Durant in Oakley. She survives.
Mr. Wessel was a resident of Scott City since 1969, where he was a mechanic for over 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Ambrose, Frank, Leroy, Tom and Bob; and two sisters, Helen and Mary Ann.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth and James Wessel, both of Scott City; one daughter, Barbara Wilbur of Leoti; one brother, Dave Wessel of Oakley; two sisters, Bernadine Wessel of Wichita and Rita Wessel of Hays; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Cemetery in Angelus.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
