DIGHTON — Celia von Leonrod, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Lane County Long Term Care Unit in Dighton.

She was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Augusta, to James Russell and Mary Winona Hess Demo. She graduated from Scott City High School in 1938.

On March 3, 1947, she married George von Leonrod Jr., M.D., in Wichita. After their marriage, they moved to Dighton. He died Dec. 26, 1998. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, George A. von Leonrod; and two brothers, Hobert Russell Demo and Willard Joe Demo.

Survivors include a son, Mark von Leonrod of Dighton; two daughters, LuAnn Schultz of Dighton, and Margaret Herman of Garden City; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Dighton. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation hours are noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boomhower Funeral Home of Dighton. Condolences may be sent to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials are suggested to the Lane County Healthcare Foundation, in care of the funeral home, Box 891, Dighton, KS 67839.
