Thelma E. Kash
LAKIN — Thelma E. Kash, 88, of Lakin, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.
She was born March 29, 1925, in north Kearny County, to Thomas Mattison and Bessie Caroline Mohr Williams.
She attended rural Kearny County schools before graduating from Lakin Rural High School in 1942.
On June 13, 1942, she married Marvin Allen Kash in Garden City. A lifetime resident of Kearny County, she was an elementary school teacher in Kearny County for 42 years, retiring in 1987. After her retirement, she and Marvin enjoyed traveling, camping and attending auctions. She was a member of the Good Sam RV Club and Grange.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Feb. 24, 2007. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herbert, Bill and Edgar Williams; and a sister, Wilma Davis.
Survivors include a foster grandson, Jayce DeMont of Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakin United Methodist Church in Lakin. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 today at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.
