Project to begin on US-83 north of Scott City
The Kansas Department of Transportation expects work to begin Monday on a resurfacing project on U.S. 83 from Scott City north to the Scott/Logan County line. The project calls for placing an ultra-thin bonded asphalt surface on the driving lanes and milling and overlaying 1-1/2 inches of asphalt on the shoulders.
During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. KDOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop. Expect the work zone to be active during daylight hours Monday through Friday.
KDOT expects work to be completed by late September, depending on weather. Venture Corporation of Great Bend is the primary contractor on this approximately $2.3 million project.
