LAKIN — William Dean "Bill" Bird, 66, of Smithville, Tenn., died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

LAKIN — William Dean "Bill" Bird, 66, of Smithville, Tenn., died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Merle and Lois Kercheval Bird.

A former resident of Lakin, Mr. Bird was a construction worker.

Survivors include five children, Sherri Bowring of Frisco, Texas, William S. Bird of Marquette, Clint Bird of Covington, Wash., Cristopher C. Bird of Smithville, and Beau Bird of Manhattan; five grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Bird of Federal Way, Wash.; a sister, Jackie Jenkins of Auburn, Wash.; and his significant other, Kat Martin of Smithville.

A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. today at DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithville.

Visitation with the family will be 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral chapel.
