Odilia Catherine "Odie" Wasinger, 87, of Garden City, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Odilia Catherine "Odie" Wasinger, 87, of Garden City, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

She was born March 13, 1925, in Holcomb, to Peter and Elizabeth Dreiling Knoll. She graduated from Holcomb High School.

On Jan. 20, 1947, she married Richard Joseph Wasinger in Garden City. He died Oct. 13, 1980. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Charlotte Lloyd; and two brothers, Edwin and Albert Knoll.

Mrs. Wasinger worked for JC Penney's for a few years and worked for the City of Garden City Utility Department for 23 years. She enjoyed dancing, music, bowling, playing cards and walking.

Survivors include her companion, Bob Ellis of Garden City; two daughters, Diane Wasinger and companion Dea Campbell of Chillicothe, Mo., and Joanne Roth and companion Mike Muirhead of Garden City; a granddaughter, Jennifer Carr and husband Cade of Fritch, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden Carr, Bryleigh Carr and Jaylee Carr.

Vigil service and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family also will receive friends at the home of Joanne Roth, 104 Nottingham Ct., Garden City. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net.
