SUBLETTE — Vivian Doris Bethel, 87, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.

She was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Copeland, to Dea Goul and Vera Woodrow Weeks. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1945.

On Feb. 10, 1945, she married Fred Eldon Bethel in Sublette. He died Aug. 12, 1986. She also was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Gordon, Eldon, Damon and Edwin Weeks.

Survivors include four daughters, Judy Hogan of Lakin, Linda Offill of Eads, Colo., Caron Strasner of Pueblo West, Colo., and Debra Nidey of Lamar, Colo.; two sisters, Juanita Hamby of Pawhuska, Okla., and Vera Mae Knief of Houston; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sublette Christian Church. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette.

Visitation hours are noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the guest book at Memorials are suggested to High Plains Retirement Village, in care of the funeral home.
