ULYSSES — Gilberto R. Aranda 66, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 4, 1948, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ramon Aranda and Maria Luz Elena Rodriguez.

A Ulysses resident, Mr. Aranda was supervisor for T - L Irrigation, retiring in December 2013 after 43 years of service.

On March 13, 1970, he married Arminda Ortega in Ulysses. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Oracio Aranda of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Homero Aranda of Presidio, Texas, Sergio Aranda of Mexico, and Omar Martin Aranda of Dumas, Texas; three sisters, Irma Madrid of Dumas, and Marta Elena Rodriguez and Maria Margarita Veronica, both of Liberal; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Lupe Aranda; two brothers, Hector and Jose Benito Aranda; an infant sister; and a sister, Rosa Elva Garcia.

Rosary and vigil service will begin at 6 tonight at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. Second in Liberal. Graveside service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Restlawn Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at
