John "Jack" Leys, 59, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at his home in Garden City.

John "Jack" Leys, 59, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at his home in Garden City.

He was born Aug. 30, 1954, in Conrad, Mont., to John M. and Dixie L. Biffle Leys.

A resident of Garden City since 1974, Mr. Leys was a mechanic at Marv's Garage. He was a member of Bible Christian Church of Garden City.

On June 12, 1976, he married Vonja S. Barnett in Scott City. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Shanna and husband John Yox of Garden City, and Taryn and husband Richard Anthony of River Oaks, Texas; his mother, of Great Falls, Mont.; three brothers, Mark Leys of Conrad, Keith Leys of Cutbank, Mont., and Thomas Leys of Great Falls; a sister, Sandra Bellows of Spokane, Wash.; a granddaughter, Angel Yox of Garden City; and a grandson, Jaxson Yox of Garden City.

A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bible Christian Church in Garden City. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent at Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Center Of Kansas in Dodge City, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.
