Free summer meals available to youths

Garden City Public Schools will continue a program that provides summertime meals to children and youth in 2014. The meals are free for anyone age 18 and under. No reservations are needed. Adults my purchase a lunch at a cost of $3.50.

Garden City Public Schools will continue a program that provides summertime meals to children and youth in 2014. The meals are free for anyone age 18 and under. No reservations are needed. Adults my purchase a lunch at a cost of $3.50.

The 2014 summer lunch program will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday June 2 through July 24 at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center, 401 Jennie Barker Road, and Horace Good Middle School, 1412 N. Main St.

There will be no meals offered June 30 to July 4.

Breakfast will be offered only during the month of June. The breakfasts will be served at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center and Victor Ornelas Elementary School, 3401 E. Spruce Street, from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

The meals are similar to those provided during the school year, providing an entree as well as plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
