Richard A. Moore Sr., 97, of Hays, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Richard A. Moore Sr., 97, of Hays, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Aug. 16, 1915, in rural Antonino, to Richard A. and Clara M. Smith Moore. He was a graduate of Hays High School.

On Feb. 11, 1941, he married Regina M. "Peggy" Rupp in Hays. She died Dec. 22, 2002. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Moore; and two sisters, Wilma Groff and Hilda Eaton.

Mr. Moore was a route salesman for 44 years, working for Kessler's Dry Cleaning and Laundry Service, which became Suburban Dry Cleaners and Laundry Service. He had resided at Via Christi Village the past two years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Moore Jr. of Garden City, and Eldon J. Moore of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Marla J. Moore of Gilbert, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine in Hays, with a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
