Grant County blood drive set for this week

Grant County blood drive set for this week

The Grant County blood drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday in the south room of the Grant County Civic Center.

Donors must provide either donor cards or photo I.D.s

Donors must be 17 years old and weight at least 110 pounds. Sixteen-year-olds may donate with parental permission.

Cancer survivors are also encouraged to donate to donate if they have been in remission for one year.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Finney County Library Board to convene

The Finney County Public Library Board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at the library, 605 E. Walnut St.

G.C. YMCA to host 'School's Out Bash!!!'

Garden City Family YMCA's ninth annual "Schools Out Bash!!!" is planned for May 28.

The free event, from 7 to 9 p.m., will feature swimming, games, tattoos, inflatables, crafts and more. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided while they last.

'Hoof-it-to-Health Road Race' sign-up

In coordination with the Beef Empire Days, Garden City Family YMCA will present a "Hoof-it-to-Health Road Race." The race will be held on June 2, and will offer a two-mile walk, a 5K run, a 10K run and a free one-half mile kids race.

Fees are $15 for YMCA members and SWFTR members and $30 for program participants. Deadline to sign up is May 29. Extended registration after the deadline will be subject to a $5 fee.

Awards will be given for the top male and female in the 5K and 10K and there will be a drawing for $25 gift certificates to Ehresman Packing.

YMCA taking water aerobics registration

Garden City Family YMCA is now taking registration for upcoming water aerobics classes. Fees are $25 for members and $50 for program participants. Deadline to register is May 28.

"Power Waves" is a high-intensity, cross-training workout that is non-impact. The class is offered from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 4. "Aerobic Waves" is a shallow-water class that provides a cardiovascular workout, increased flexibility and enhanced strength without stress on your joints. This class is offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 4.

'Gym Swim'

Garden City Family YMCA will offer a "Gym Swim" program for youth age 3 to 5 starting June 4. The participants will enjoy structured activities in the gym and pool for 25 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday for three weeks from 9 to 10 a.m.

Deadline to register is May 28. The program costs $25 for members and $50 for program participants.
