Alejandra C. Diaz, 76, of Garden City, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
She was born Dec. 13, 1936, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, to Antonio and Concepcion Alarcon Castro.
A resident of Garden City since 1979, Mrs. Diaz was a homemaker and also had worked as a teacher while living in Mexico. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Hispanic Women Against Cancer Coalition. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and word search puzzles.
In June 1958, she married Juan Jose Diaz Sr., in Ciudad Juarez. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Gilberto Diaz of Garden City, and Juan Diaz Jr. of Ciudad Juarez; three brothers, Pedro Castro, Martin Castro and Antonio Castro, all of Ciudad Juarez; a sister, Maria Elena Terrazas of Garden City; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Vigil service and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
