The second annual Wind and Wheels Festival returns to Leoti April 19.

The second annual Wind and Wheels Festival returns to Leoti April 19.

This all-day event at the Wichita County High School celebrates the area's abundance of wind in a unique fashion. The festival features kite demonstrations and open kite flying, a car and motorcycle show, live music performances and food. Professional kite flyers from as far away as Chicago will be demonstrating kite-flying techniques, as well as showing off their giant, larger-than-life kites. Wind energy presentations, model rocket launches and an Easter egg hunt also will be part of the festival. The day will kick off with the AIM Committee's AIM for the Track 5K, supporting the fundraising efforts for a high school track.

Entrance to the festival is free for the whole family. Bring lawn chairs and kites for the open kite-flying opportunities. Vendors will be selling kites, food and drinks.

Interested car enthusiasts and participants for the 5K can email windandwheels@gmail.com or call (620)-375-2182 to get a registration form. For more information about the event, be sure to like Wind and Wheels on Facebook or visit www.windandwheels.org.
