Betty L. Davenport Kemp, 88, a former Garden City resident, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Olathe.

Betty L. Davenport Kemp, 88, a former Garden City resident, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Olathe.

She was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Bowie, Texas.

On June 10, 1944, she married Jack Kemp in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Mrs. Kemp had lived in Garden City from September 1962 until moving to Olathe in June 1989. She had worked as a welder for Butler Manufacturing for more than 20 years.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Becky Pope, with whom she resided with for more than 30 years; a son, Phil Kemp and his wife Pam; a daughter, Latha; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; her husband; a son, Allen Kemp; and two great-grandsons.
