ULYSSES — Dickey H. Johann, 70, of Garden City, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

ULYSSES — Dickey H. Johann, 70, of Garden City, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

He was born Aug. 31, 1943, in Paola, to Ralph and Alphalee Shearhart Johann.

He married Ethyl Osborne. They later divorced. He married Sonja Blackmore in Ulysses. She died in 2007. He also was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Arthur, Colonel and Warren.

Mr. Johann was employed by Grant County for about 30 years before retiring.

Survivors include two daughters, Tonya Johnson of Seminole, Okla., and Rachelle Johann of Wellington, Fla.; two sons, Mathias Johann of Ulysses, and Deacon Johann of Garden City; a sister, Jane Swearingen of Hillsdale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.¬ 

Graveside service was 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ulysses Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Garnand Funeral Home of Ulysses.
