Donita Claar

Donita M. Claar, 77, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Guymon, Okla., to Earl E. and Beaulah May Thrall Griggs.

A resident of Garden City since 1980, moving from McPherson, Mrs. Claar was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City and a former member of Deerfield United Methodist Church.

On Nov. 26, 1950, she married Charles H. Claar in Deerfield. He died Oct. 13, 2007, in Garden City. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Earl Gene Griggs.

Survivors include two sons, Charles H. Claar Jr. and Larry Claar, both of Garden City; two daughters, Sandra Claar of Harper, and Sheri Green of Garden City; a brother, Floyd Griggs of Ponca City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, with the Rev. David Bell presiding. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation is until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Garden Valley Retirement Village, both in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.
