FOWLER — William J. "Bill" Bergkamp, 74, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Fowler Residential Care Center in Fowler.

FOWLER — William J. "Bill" Bergkamp, 74, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Fowler Residential Care Center in Fowler.

He was born Nov. 20, 1939, in Dodge City, to Henry Gerhard and Blanche Steffan Bergkamp.

A lifetime resident of the Fowler community, Mr. Bergkamp was a farmer.

On Sept. 6, 1958, he married Rita J. Hayden in Dodge City. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Donald and Joseph Bergkamp, both of Fowler, and Edward Bergkamp of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Sharon Glenn of Garden City, Loretta Robbins of Eustis, Neb., and Barbara Turley of Mora, Minn.; a sister, Aldine Maier of Duncan, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

Vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fowler. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Fowler Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Personal condolences may be given at www.fidlerormebachmanmortuary.com. Memorials are suggested to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.
