LEOTI — Lanny DeWayne Mehl, 73, of Leoti, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in East Aurora, N.Y.

He was born July 11, 1940, in Offerle, to Reinhart Earnest and Pearl Elizabeth Hall Mehl.

A farmer, Mr. Mehl had been a resident of Leoti since 1972. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam conflict.

On May 1, 1959, he married Marcia Lynn Ford in Boulder, Colo. She survives. Other survivors include three children, Steele Mehl of Fayetteville, Ga., Sarah Tasker of East Aurora, and Shad Mehl of Leoti; two siblings, Renee Tedford of Fort Lupton, Colo., and Randall Mehl of Salt Lake City; and 10 grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial service will begin at 3:30 p.m. April 6 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti. Inurnment will begin at 10 a.m. April 7 at Fort Dodge Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent at Memorials are suggested to the Wichita County Community Foundation / Wichita County High School Track Fund, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti.
