Elizabeth J. "Bette" Zachman-Wilson-Thomas, 91, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.

Elizabeth J. "Bette" Zachman-Wilson-Thomas, 91, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.

She was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Jetmore, to Byron L. and Martha Jane Bonner Glenn. She graduated from Jetmore High School in 1940.

A teacher, she had taught in Dodge City, at Wilroads Gardens School, Bell Center Township School and then first grade at Lincoln Elementary School until her retirement.

In 1944, she married Oscar Zachman. He died in 1958. In 1962, she married John Wilson. He died in 1991. She married Walter Thomas. He died in 1997. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Patterson of Copeland; two sons, Claude Zachman of Spearville, and Tom Zachman of Dodge City; two stepdaughters, Sherry Casey of Hutchinson, and Terry Knowles of Colby; a stepson, Doug Wilson of Menlo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Dodge City. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to Christ The King Lutheran Church or Lone Tree Retirement Center, both in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma.
