Walter Yost

MONTEZUMA — Walter L. Yost, 88, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Bethel Home Inc., in Montezuma.He was born April 22, 1924, north of Montezuma, to Herman and Lizzie Koehn Yost.
On June 22, 1947, he married Sylvia Mae Schmidt in Montezuma. She died April 14, 1995. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon Hughes; and two sisters, Joan Marie Yost and Donnabelle Ilene Schmidt.
Mr. Yost built elevators and farmed with his father. Later, he farmed on his own in Scott County.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Mininger of Campbellsburg, Ind.; a son, Phillip Yost of Scott City; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Scott City Mennonite Church, Scott City. Burial will follow at Scott City Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to noon today at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma and 1 to 2 p.m. today at Bethel Home in Montezuma. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home, in care of the funeral home.
