ELKHART — Linda LaRae Waggoner, 51, of Elkhart, died suddenly Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Baptist Saint Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born Dec. 3, 1958, in Kiowa, to David and Linda Sue Pollock Waggoner. She attended grade school in Greensburg and Mullinville before the family moved to Satanta in 1976. She graduated from Satanta High School in 1977.
Miss Waggoner worked as an equipment operator for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Rolla. She was known for having a good sense of humor and her ability to make people laugh. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and also enjoyed animals.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Groth of Panama City, Fla., and Justin Groth of Elkhart; her parents, of Menard, Texas; two brothers, Danny Waggoner of Menard, and Rick Waggoner of Satanta; two sisters, Tammy Hamill of Holcomb, and Brandi Stapleton of Liberal; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Juanita Pollock, and Orva and Mae Waggoner.
Graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta, with the Rev. Tod Anthony presiding.
Visitation is until 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. A memorial has been established for the family, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
