Three people were taken to the hospital following a head-on collision in southwest Leavenworth County, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 8:24 p.m. Friday at Kansas 16 Highway and Parallel Road.

A 68-year-old Paola man was driving west on K-16 in a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck. He reportedly attempted to make a left turn onto Parallel Road but collided head-on with a 2007 Volkswagen GTI that was traveling east on K-16. A 2014 Chevrolet Malibu then struck the rear of the Volkswagen., according to the report.

The driver of the Ford Ranger and his passenger, a 62-year-old Tonganoxie man, were transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, to be treated for what were believed to be minor injuries.

The Volkswagen’s driver, a 17-year-old Nortonville boy, had no apparent injuries. But his passenger, a 19-year-old Nortonville man, was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for what was believed to be a minor injury.

The Chevrolet Malibu’s driver, a 33-year-old McLouth man, had no apparent injuries, according to the report.
