What: Garden City Community College will present "Alone; In the Mind of Edgar Allen Poe," an original play written by GCCC student Steven “Wade” Freeman. The play walks the audience through Poe's last night on Earth and revisits his successes and failures through the women in his life.

First Friday Art Walk
What: Featured artists will be Maddie Christner and Terry Anderson.
When/Where: Anderson from 5 to 7 p.m. at Patrick Dugan's, and Christner from 6 to 8 p.m. at Garden City Arts.
Mercer Gallery exhibit
What: Fractured Gatherings exhibition, which showcases clay works by faculty members and graduate students studying sculptural and functional ceramics in the Wichita State University ceramics department.
When: Exhibit is on display Friday through Dec. 2, with a First Friday opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, featuring live music from the GCCC Faculty Jazz Ensemble. Earlier that day, WSU Masters of Fine Arts candidates Allison Burch and Chuck Purviance will hold a ceramics demonstration from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the GCCC Clay Studio.

What: Kansas Children’s Service League will host the first Uncorked Wine Walk on the Green event, benefiting early childhood programs in western Kansas. The event will offer local wine and other beverages at nine stations.

What: Garden City native Ernest Garcia, his family and the author that penned his new biography will greet the public and sign and sell books at a reception. The book, “Marine, Public Servant, Kansan — The Life of Ernest Garcia” draws on oral histories of Garcia and the family members that came before him that run alongside the Great Depression, Dust Bowl and both world wars, as well as Garcia’s life as a sergeant at arms in the U.S. Senate.

Banner Art Auction
What: The 11th annual Garden City Downtown Vision Banner Art auction will feature over 40 hand-painted banners that have been fracing the downtown light poles during the fall months. During the auction, the banners will be auctioned off.
