Garden Valley Retirement Village will host its 21st annual German supper and silent auction fundraiser Saturday to raise money for a local charitable organization and gifts for the village's residents.
The supper and auction will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at GVRV, 1505 E. Spruce St., and serve a traditional, low style German meal of chicken borscht, bierocks, verinike served with sausage gravy or caramel sauce, homemade sauerkraut, zwiebach and a variety of homemade pies. The food was chosen to honor the Mennonite heritage that was integral in Garden Valley's opening more than 40 years ago.
The evening will include live entertainment by musician Steve Johnson from 5 to 5:30 p.m., the band "Last Resort" from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the "Generation Gap Mennonite Men's Quartet" from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by visiting or calling Garden Valley at (620) 275-9651. Children 5 and younger can eat for free.
