The Garden City Elks are hosting a catch-and-release kids’ fishing derby Saturday at Put ‘Em Back Pond.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the derby scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon. Prizes will be awarded, and lunch will follow the derby at 12:30 p.m.
Free fishing poles and tackle will be given to the first 35 kids who pre-register. To register, email email@example.com with the child’s name and age, or text (620) 277-3315. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Put ‘Em Back Pond is located southeast of Garden City. To get there, drive east on U.S. Highway 50 to South Farmland Road, then head south to Mansfield, then west, following the road past the sewer treatment plant. Then head south, where the road will turn to dirt, then continue south across Private Concrete Road and continue south until you get to the pond.
