Next weekend, Humanities Kansas and the Finney County Historical Society will hold "From There to Here: Immigrant Stories of Kansas," a free writing workshop, available in Spanish and English, for locals eager to record their families' immigration stories, such as how relatives came to Kansas and memories from their home country.
The workshop, hosted by Jose Faus of the Latino Writer’s Collective, will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 in the meeting room of the Finney County Historical Museum and is open to the public. Attendees do not need to register, but should use the museum's north entrance.
No writing experience is required, and attendees are encouraged to bring meaningful objects for inspiration. Pencils and paper will be provided, but attendees may also bring laptops.
Similar workshops will be held in Kansas City, Lawrence, Liberal, Newton, Topeka and Wichita.
