"Strangers in Town," a 33-minute documentary about immigrants and immigration in Garden City, will have its world premiere at a free, public screening Wednesday at Garden City High School.

The screening will begin at 6 p.m. in the GCHS auditorium, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. The filmmakers will answer audience questions afterwards.

Topeka filmmaker Stephen Lerner and Los Angeles documentarian Reuben Aaronson directed the film, interviewing members and leaders of Garden City immigrant communities, city and law enforcement officials and educators and students at GCHS to capture different perspectives of the city's relationship with immigration.

On Thursday, the film will be screened at the city's Multicultural Summit, and then, Lerner said, to schools across the state and national and international film festivals.
