Last month, the Kansas Department of Transportation celebrated and thanked District Six and District Five Land Surveyor I Bob Brown on 10 years of service with the department, topping off his ongoing 40 years as a land surveyor.

In his role, Brown serves southwest and south-central Kansas and determines highway right of way, stakes right of way for appraisals and purchasing, measures stock prices and borrow pits and checks highway cross sections.

Brown became a licensed surveyor in 1988 after working with a licensed surveyor for eight years. He joined KDOT in 2008 after working as a surveyor in the private sector for 30 years.
