Families Together, the Garden City Noon Lions Club and Western Kansas Assistive Technology will accept used wheelchairs, patient lifts and other assistive medical equipment at a donation drive Saturday, ultimately refurbishing the technology for Kansans in need.
The drive will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Families Together office, 1518 Taylor Plaza, and will accept manual and powered wheelchairs, scooters and power-operated vehicles, communication devices, home care beds, patient lifts, shower chairs, standers and gait trainers, walkers with seats and hand brakes, prescription glasses and hearing aids, and other medical equipment for people with disabilities.
The equipment will be donated to the ATK-KEE Reuse Program, which refurbishes lightly used equipment and gives it away for free to those struggling with disabilities or health conditions in Kansas.
