The Bethel College volleyball team claimed its second win of the season, stopping Manhattan Christian College in four games Saturday afternoon at Thresher Gym.

Bethel won the match 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 25-21.

"We're basically a whole new team and we continue to make progress daily, one step at a time," Bethel coach Stacy Middleton told BC Sports Information.

Leading 12-10 in the first set, Bethel made a 9-0 run. MCC replied with a 6-0 run, but Bethel responded with a 4-2 run for the set.

Bethel trailed 19-12 in the second set and was never able to recover.

The Threshers jumped out 20-8 in the third set, holding off MCC the rest of the way. Tied 17-17 in the fourth set, Bethel made a 4-1 run and traded points the rest of the way.

Nicole Klusener led the Bethel attack with 12 kills. Kaylee VanderVeen set 24 assists, followed by Avery Myatt with 11. VanderVeen served five aces. Jensen Roth had 20 digs, followed by Klusener and Rachel Bustillos with 15 each. Mia Loganbill downed three blocks.

For Manhattan Christian, 3-3, Katherine Simon had nine kills. Tess Eblin set 31 assists and served two aces. Mary Frances McNellis had 35 digs, wollowed by Eblin with 11. Greta Hinderliter downed three blocks.

Bethel is 2-7 and opens KCAC play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at McPherson College. The Bulldogs are 11-2.
