Garden City police arrested three individuals on drug allegations Sunday, saying the three exposed a 2-year-old child to drugs in a local hotel room.

Officers went to the Continental Inn, 1408 W. Buffalo Jones Ave., at 1 a.m. Sunday to do a welfare check and discovered the 2-year-old was being exposed to marijuana in one of the hotel rooms.

According to police, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from one of the rooms, and the child was found asleep on one of the beds. Officers came into contact with three adults in the room — Heather Spencer, 23, of Ingalls; Ezicio Riojas, 25, Dodge City; and Ingrid Rodriguez, 21, Dodge City.

Police say they found drugs and drug paraphernalia accessible to the child, and the room was found to be in a hazardous condition, posing a threat to the child. Police took the child into protective custody.

Spencer, Riojas and Rodriguez all were arrested and lodged in the Finney County jail on allegations of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated endangerment of a child. Riojas also was arrested on a count of interference with a law enforcement officer.
