A 46-year-old Iowa man was injured Thursday morning in Hamilton County when the semi he was driving struck a culvert after leaving the roadway.

Carl William Jones of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, was eastbound in a 1997 Kenworth semi on U.S. Highway 50 about three-quarters of a mile east of Kansas Highway 27 at about 1:55 a.m., when he left the roadway, entered the south ditch of the highway, struck a culvert and came to a stop, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Jones was wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP. He was injured and taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
