The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that it has selected 27 intersection and road improvement projects across the state for funding in fiscal years 2020 and 2021 through the department’s City Connecting Link Improvement Program (CCLIP), including projects in Lakin and Tribune.
The program funds improvements to state highways that extend through cities.
Of the $13.7 million in funding that will be awarded over the two years, $1 million each will be awarded in 2021 to Lakin and Tribune for pavement restoration projects.
Under CCLIP, a city contributes up to 25 percent of the project cost based on its population. Cities of less than 2,500 aren’t required to provide a match.
Pavement restoration projects typically involve full-depth pavement replacement without changes to the overall geometric characteristics and may also address drainage issues.
