Michael Hay, 43, of Salina, was taken to Salina Regional Health Center in critical condition early Friday after he was found underneath a motorcycle in the 2600 block of South Ohio Street, according to Salina police Capt. Mike Sweeney.

Hay was found by passers-by shortly after midnight Friday underneath his Yamaha motorcycle on the west curb in the 2600 block of South Ohio Street, south of Burr Oak Lane, Sweeney said.

The passers-by lifted the motorcycle off of Hay and called for help. Hay was not conscious, Sweeney said, and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Sweeney said it appeared that Hay had been involved in a single-vehicle crash and that his motorcycle had struck the curb at a high rate of speed. The incident remains under investigation.
