Blushing Artiste

What: Bring your friends to Garden City Arts and have a glass of wine and light hors d’oeuvres while creating a painting that you can take home at the end of the night. No previous art experience is needed as the instructor will provide easy to follow, step-by-step instructions. Participants will paint on 14-by-18 stretched canvases. Participants must be 21 or older.

When: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday

Where: Garden City Arts, 318 N. Main St.

Cost: $35 for non-members or $30 for Garden City Arts members. The organization requires payment upon enrollment.

Garden City Farmer's Market

What: The farmer’s market features a variety of home-grown produce, hand-crafted items, homemade foods and Colorado fruits for sale.

When: 7 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Parking lot of Westlake Ace Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.


Flea Market and Antique Festival

What: The Finney County Historical Society’s Annual Flea Market Festival of Antiques, Collectibles, Arts and Crafts, featuring numerous artisans and vendors.

When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Where: The Finney County Museum on the Lee Richardson Zoo grounds north of the rhinos and giraffes exhibits. Enter through the zoo’s pedestrian entrance arches.

Cost: Free


Harvest Flea Market

What: Harvest Flea Market combines a farmers market and flea market experience, with 300 spaces for vendors offering food, furniture, artwork and more.

When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The flea market dates run May through October.

Where: The west end of the Finney County Fairgrounds parking lot.

Admission: $1.


Jungle Run IV Car Show 

What: The Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo’s Jungle Run IV Automobile Show, featuring prize drawings, a 50/50 drawing, a prize raffle, giveaways, train rides, music, food and more.

The zoo will open at 8 a.m. for pedestrians and drive-through traffic with no early admittance. Pre-registration is $25 or $30 the day of the show. Dash plaques and goodie bags go to the first 75 entries.

When: Vehicle registration is from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the gazebo on the West Green. The show will run until 2 p.m.

Drop-in Art Saturday

What: Drop-in Art Saturday is hosted by Garden City Arts and is held every second Saturday of the month. Enjoy multiple art-making stations suitable for the whole family. All ages are welcome, however, children younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Play clothes are a must.

When: 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday

Kansas Kruisers Car Show

What: A car show that includes various classic cars.

When: 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday

Where: Samy’s Spirits and Steakhouse, 1911 Kansas Ave.


Stuff the Bus

What: An effort to collect backpacks and school supplies for local students. Items needed include: backpacks for early childhood through 12th grade, glue sticks, 24 count crayons, glue (8 oz and 16 oz), No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, large erasers, washable markers, blue and black ink pens, highlighters, spiral notebooks (both college and wide-ruled), scissors, notebook paper (both college and wide-ruled), solid colored-pocket folders (brads and no brads), three-ring binders (1-inch and 2-inch), and watercolor paints.

When: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday

Where: Donations will be collected at school buses stationed in the parking lots of Dillons East, Dillons West, Target, Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Market. Donations also will be accepted any time at the Finney County United Way, 1511 Fulton Terrace; Salvation Army, 216 N. Ninth St.; or Western Motor, 409 E. Fulton St.
