WICHITA — Thirteen Bethel College winter sports athletes were named to the KCAC Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2017-18 school year.

To be named to the team, “Student-athletes must have sophomore standing at the start of the sport season, maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.333 on a 4.0 scale, and letter in their sport.”

Wingnuts top


WICHITA — The Wichita Wingnuts downed the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 8-3 Tuesday in American Association play in Wichita.

The Wingnuts rebounded from a 12-inning loss to the RedHawks the previous night.

Fargo scored runs in the first, third and ninth innings.

Logan Watkins, Ryne Willard and Nick Rotola each drove in two runs for Wichita. Leo Vargas went three four four hitting with an RBI. Tony Thomas also drove in a run. Abel Nieves, Thomas, John Nester and Willard each had two hits. Thomas hit a home run.

Devan Ahart and Chris Jacobs each hit a solo home run for Fargo. Tim Colwell went three for four with an RBI. Ahart and Jacobs each had two hits.

Wichita is 30-19, while Fargo-Moorhead is 26-23. The two conclude their series at 11:05 a.m. today.
