Finney County commissioners are seeking volunteers to represent the county on the Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging, or SWKAAA, Sub-Regional Council, which will assist the agency in determining and addressing local senior citizens’ needs.

Each county will appoint three people to the council who will serve a three-year term. Appointments begin on Oct. 1, and new members will attend an orientation and training at their first meeting in November. The council meets every three months, usually at a local senior center. SWKAAA will reimburse participants’ mileage to and from meetings.

Candidates should have knowledge of the county and region’s older community, such as a local business person, health professional, home health care provider, caregiver or retiree, among other backgrounds, according to a press release from the office of the Finney County Administrator.

Those interested in participating can call Finney County Clerk Dori Munyan at (620) 272-3524. For more information, contact the Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging at (800) 742-9531.
