HUTHCHINSON — A Garden City woman and her daughter were injured but not hospitalized Thursday after a Haysville man ran a red light at 17th Avenue and Lorraine and slammed into their car.

Hutchinson Police reported Randell L. Voth, 66, of Haysville, was eastbound in the outside lane on 17th just after 9 a.m., when he ran the light and struck a car driven by Samantha S. Mondragon, 45, of Garden City.

The impact was primarily in the rear passenger door, near where Mondragon’s 11-year-old daughter was sitting.

Both Mondragon and her daughter were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.

Both were wearing seat belts, police reported.

The two were transported by ambulance to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, where they were assessed then released, according to the hospital.

Voth, who refused treatment at the scene, was cited for disobeying the signal.
